FUNDING FILMMAKERS
Netflix has unveiled the return of its Documentary Talent Fund for a fourth year, offering five U.K. and Ireland-based filmmakers £30,000 ($40,000) each to create short documentaries exploring the theme of “Change.”
“We are looking to work with creatives who may have some experience within the industry but are looking for the next opportunity to super-charge their careers,” said Kate Townsend of Netflix Documentaries.
The program has supported 21 films to date, generating over 65 festival screenings. Alumni achievements include BAFTA nominations, Grierson Award nominations, and professional advancement opportunities.
Year 3 films now available on the Netflix See What’s Next YouTube channel include “Band,” “Angry Bird,” “The Herring Queen,” “Divided We Stand,” “The Good Farmer and The Failed Son,” and “Crimes of Collage.”
Elisabeth Hopper returns as lead producer for the fourth consecutive year, joined by producers Georgie Yukiko Donovan and Daisy Ifama. Molinare Creative Group will provide post-production services for all five projects.
Completed documentaries will run 8-12 minutes and premiere on the Netflix See What’s Next YouTube channel following festival runs.
